12BT, Bead 12, 12 Tehni

12BT, or 12 Tehni, is a two-player board game.

12BT (a traditional game) is a chess-like game for two players. Each player commands 12 pawns. A player can move a bead (also called Tehni or Guti) in two ways: first, if all adjacent positions around it are empty, the piece may move to any vacant spot. Second, if a player can jump over an opponent's bead, that opponent's piece is captured. The winner is the first player to capture all 12 of their opponent's beads/Tehnis/Gutis.

It resembles Draughts or Checkers, also known as dame, dames, or damas. A similar Arabic game is Quirkat or al-qirq, also called Alquerque (القرقات‎). Other comparable games include Halma, Chinese Checkers, and Konane. Alquerque's board and setup closely match that of Bara Biti. While the board setup for Draughts or Checkers differs, anyone familiar with those games can easily play Quirkat, Alquerque (القرقات‎), or this game.
