Welcome to the "Digital Revolution of Devarattam" app, a project dedicated to celebrating and spreading the rich cultural heritage of Devarattam, a traditional folk dance from Tamil Nadu. This app is a tribute to the legends of Devarattam, including the esteemed Kalaimamani awardees Mr. M Kumararaman, a retired teacher, Mr. M Kannan Kumar, and Mr. K Nellai Manikandan from Zamin Kodangipatti, who have been honored with the Kalaimamani, Kalaimani, and Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar awards, respectively. I dedicate this app to these legends, my guru Mr. E Rajakamulu, and all the lovable legends of Devarattam.

Devarattam, performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community, both in ancient times and today, is a vibrant dance form that captivates audiences with its intricate steps. The dance consists of 32 basic steps, with an additional 40 alternative steps, making a total of 72 steps. Dancers showcase their skill by holding a kerchief in each hand, wearing Salangai on each leg, and dancing to the rhythm of the Deva Thunthumi, a traditional musical instrument.

Through this app, I aim to highlight the beauty and significance of Devarattam and honor the awardees who have contributed immensely to its preservation and promotion. Join us in this digital journey to explore and appreciate the art of Devarattam.
