Japanese Mahjong offers an engaging experience with its unique set of rules and gameplay mechanics. To play, you'll navigate the game using a slider located at the bottom of the screen to select tiles. Once you've chosen your tile, a simple tap on the slider will discard it. The objective of the game is to form a winning hand, which consists of four Melds and one Pair. For example, a winning hand could look like this: \[1, 2, 3\]\[6, 6, 6\]\[6, 7, 8\]\[N, N, N\]\[4, 4\].
However, certain hands may not be valid if they include Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. Be cautious when attempting to use 1 and 9 in Chi and Pon, as this could impact your hand's validity. In Japanese Mahjong, you need at least one valid hand to win, which can be achieved by paying 1,000 points to declare Reach. Note that Reach cannot be declared if you've used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan during the game. A closed hand, one that hasn't used these actions, tends to yield higher points upon winning.
There's also the concept of a "Lost Hand," where a player is waiting to win but cannot because they've already discarded a tile that would complete their hand. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-drawing the needed tile. The key is never to let the opponent win by discarding a tile they need (Ron). Always be strategic and reason out potential winning hands from the tiles your opponents discard.
