AMC Slashes Midweek Ticket Prices by 50% in July to Boost Attendance

by Camila May 14,2025

Get ready, movie lovers: Wednesday is set to become your new favorite day of the week! AMC Theaters has just announced an exciting new initiative to boost mid-week movie attendance by slashing ticket prices in half on Wednesdays. That's right, you can enjoy your favorite films at a 50% discount!

Starting from July 9, this all-day discount will be applied to the standard adult evening ticket price. But here's the best part: even premium showings like IMAX and 4DX will benefit from this incredible deal. Considering the typically higher cost of IMAX screenings, this is a fantastic opportunity for moviegoers, especially families and groups, to enjoy a premium cinematic experience without breaking the bank.

The movie industry has faced significant challenges since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with theaters experiencing a sharp decline in ticket sales as audiences stayed away. While recovery has been gradual, it's clear that the industry has yet to fully regain its pre-pandemic momentum. However, AMC CEO Adam Aron remains optimistic about the future.

Aron noted that although the first quarter saw low box office turnout, which he described as an "anomaly," the situation has improved significantly since April 1. This turnaround is largely due to the phenomenal success of films like A Minecraft Movie and Sinners. At the time of writing, A Minecraft Movie has grossed an impressive $408 million, while Sinners has earned $215 million and continues to attract audiences.

With the summer blockbuster season just kicking off, the future looks bright for the box office. Anticipated releases like Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning and Disney’s live-action Lilo and Stitch are set to hit the screens, followed by Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July. These upcoming films promise to draw crowds and boost ticket sales, and AMC’s new Wednesday discount is poised to play a significant role in driving these numbers even higher.
