Bandai Namco has announced the unfortunate shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, adding a bittersweet note to the iconic character's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile version of the classic game has entertained countless players worldwide.
The official date for the PAC-MAN Mobile shutdown is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. This news has left many fans disappointed, with some wishing for an offline version that could have continued to generate revenue for Bandai Namco.
PAC-MAN Mobile, once known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the nostalgia of the classic arcade game. It included an 8-bit arcade mode, a Story Mode filled with original mazes, and an Adventure Mode featuring limited-time themed events that allowed players to earn exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and the game offered numerous skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and even the joystick.
The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile comes after years of accumulating bugs and technical issues, which likely played a significant role in Bandai Namco's choice. The game's early days on Android were filled with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, creating a vibrant community around this mobile classic.
For those wishing to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store. Don't miss out on this final chance to revisit the mazes and ghosts that have captured hearts for decades.
