Pearl Abyss Remains Independent Despite Sony's Offer

Crimson Desert Release Date and Platforms Still Unconfirmed

Crimson Desert, Black Desert Online's Successor, Turns Down PS5 Exclusivity Deal

In a statement to Eurogamer, Pearl Abyss confirmed its self-publishing strategy for Crimson Desert, citing previous public announcements regarding this decision. While acknowledging and valuing its business partnerships, the developer emphasized its ongoing independent publishing plans and various collaborative discussions with partners.

A playable build of Crimson Desert will be showcased to media this week in Paris and to the public at G-Star in November. The company reiterated that no official release date has been set, and any reports to the contrary are purely speculative.

September investor meetings revealed Sony's attempt to secure Crimson Desert as a PS5 exclusive, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss's internal assessment concluded that self-publishing would yield significantly higher profitability.

While a definitive platform list and release date remain unannounced, a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox launch is anticipated around Q2 2025.
