The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many players felt the combat system fell short.
In a recent interview, The Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged weaknesses in the previous game's gameplay. He specifically highlighted the need for significant improvements to the core gameplay loop and the monster hunting experience.
"We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience," Kalemba stated.
The director emphasized that the upcoming Witcher 4 trailer should showcase a more impactful and powerful monster-fighting experience, focusing on improved choreography and emotional weight.
Significant combat enhancements are anticipated in The Witcher 4. Reassuringly, CD Projekt Red recognizes the shortcomings of past Witcher titles' combat and is actively addressing them. These improvements will likely carry over into future installments, especially given Ciri's role as the protagonist of the new trilogy.
Interestingly, the developers also plan to include Triss's wedding. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest was initially planned for Novigrad. The storyline involved Triss's romantic feelings for Castello and her desire for a quick wedding. Geralt's role would have been assisting with preparations, including monster extermination, acquiring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift.
