Asymmetrical horror multiplayer game Dead by Daylight (DbD) is set to release the exclusive Junji Ito collection in collaboration with the legendary manga artist!
Junji Ito is globally well-known for his unique works, macabre stories, and his signature surrealist style for 40 years, and he has now partnered up with Dead by Daylight to feature his characters in-game for the "ultimate horror collaboration."
Eight skins will be in the collection, featuring Ito’s representative works such as "Tomie," "Hanging Balloons," and "Rumors," to name a few. The Killers participating in the collection are The Dredge, The Trickster, The Twins, The Spirit, and The Artist; notably, the latter two will have Legendary rarity skins, complete with new audio and sound effects. The Spirit will be able to don a Tomie (Tomie) skin, and The Artist will receive a Miss Fuchi (Rumors, Fashion Model) skin. Survivors like Yui Kimura, Yun-Jin Lee, and Kate Denson are part of the collection as well.
In fact, Ito himself had a hand in seeing his characters come to life through Dead by Daylight. In a video posted on the Dead by Daylight official X (Twitter), Ito reacted to the characters in-game, looking happy and content seeing his characters manifested in a video game. "It was very moving to see that they had become even more terrifying characters after leaving my hands," he said. Afterwards, he had a hand in trying out a real game as a killer, playing as The Artist decked out in her Miss Fuchi skin.
The Junji Ito collection will be available for starting January 7th, 2025 for Dead by Daylight on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch.
