The excitement around Deltarune's Switch 2 version surged after its announcement during the latest Nintendo Direct on April 2. This version will feature Chapters 3 and 4, along with exclusive features tailored for the next-gen console.

Toby Fox, the game's developer, shared in a Fangamer newsletter that the Switch 2 version will include a unique room that utilizes the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox highlighted, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"

For players on non-Switch 2 devices, this unique room will still be accessible but with an alternative control scheme. Moreover, players can transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a seamless transition.

Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free

In the newsletter, Fox also clarified the pricing for Deltarune, setting it at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the newly released Chapters 3 and 4. While Chapters 1 and 2 were initially released for free in 2018 and 2021 respectively, it was previously announced that Chapters 3-5 would be paid.

However, Fox has now announced that all future Chapters will be added as free updates. This means that players only need to purchase the game once to enjoy all future content at no additional cost. Fox expressed his hope that, "as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."

Additionally, the game's soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Songs from future Chapters will also be added for free, ensuring that Deltarune offers exceptional value to its fans.

DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 are slated for release on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Switch 2.
