CD Projekt Red, the developer behind the eagerly anticipated *The Witcher 4*, has issued a stern warning to the gaming community regarding a deceptive beta test invite scam that has been circulating online. In a statement released on The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account on April 16, the team addressed the fraudulent invitations that have been misleading fans. They emphasized that any legitimate future beta tests would be announced first through The Witcher's official channels.
The Witcher 4 developer, CD Projekt Red, has issued a warning to players about the ongoing beta test invite scam spreading across the internet. CD Projekt Red posted on The Witcher’s official Twitter (X) on April 16 that they received reports from the community that they are being invited to a beta test for The Witcher 4, which is a scam.
The post read, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."
They added that if there were beta tests in the future, players would first hear about it on The Witcher’s official social media and websites.
*The Witcher 4* was first unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist, sparking widespread discussion among fans accustomed to Geralt's lead role in the previous three games. In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4 Narrative Director Phillipp Weber addressed the community's reaction to this significant shift. Weber, who also appreciated playing as Geralt, reassured fans that the team is committed to showcasing Ciri's potential in exciting ways. "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago," he explained.
The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed gratitude towards the fans who supported the decision to spotlight Ciri. "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released," he remarked, highlighting the team's confidence in the game's potential to win over skeptics.
Described as the most ambitious entry in the series, *The Witcher 4* will introduce new regions and monsters, set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While a specific release date remains under wraps, fans are encouraged to stay updated through our comprehensive coverage below.
