Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is the highly anticipated mobile version of the once-disastrous but now critically-acclaimed MMORPG from Square Enix. According to a recent listing on the Chinese iOS App Store, fans might be able to dive into this mobile experience as early as August 29th. The excitement is palpable, especially given the game's storied history.
Originally launched in 2010, Final Fantasy XIV received overwhelmingly negative feedback. The initial release was such a letdown that Square Enix decided to completely overhaul the game, leading to the rebirth of the title as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This revamped version not only salvaged the franchise's reputation but also established it as a top-tier MMO, bolstered by continuous updates and expansions.
The prospect of playing Final Fantasy XIV on mobile devices has been thrilling for fans, including our own Shaun Walton, who has provided in-depth coverage on what to expect from the mobile release. The question on everyone's mind is how feature-complete the mobile version will be upon release. While a late August launch seems feasible, there's also speculation that Tencent's Lightspeed, responsible for the port, might roll it out earlier in China.
A global release is expected to follow soon after, as confirmed by series veteran Naoki Yoshida in a recent interview. He emphasized that Final Fantasy XIV Mobile has been in the works for a significant amount of time, suggesting that players can anticipate a polished and lovingly crafted port.
