Framed for Murder at Girls' Boarding School: Was It You?

by Lily May 06,2025

Ever wondered why parents send their kids to boarding school? Beyond the peer pressure, loneliness, and potential snobbery, there's also the chance of dramatic incidents like someone being pushed out of a window! While that might not happen at every boarding school, it's certainly the case in Expelled!, the latest release from inkle, the creators of Overboard.

In Expelled!, you step into the shoes of Verity Amersham, a seemingly innocent schoolgirl at Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls in 1922. When a prefect takes a tumble out of a window, Verity finds herself accused of attempted murder. With only one school day to clear her name, you must navigate a world where characters move and act independently, racing against the clock to prove your innocence—or not.

You have the freedom to clear your name through various means: by uncovering the real culprit, framing someone else, or even resorting to more forceful methods like wielding your hockey stick. The choice is entirely yours!

It's easy to recommend Expelled!, especially given the glowing review from Catherine Dellosa. Inkle, the studio behind my personal favorite mobile game of all time, 80 Days, has once again struck gold with this murder mystery visual novel. While Expelled! features a less sinister protagonist than Overboard, you can choose to play it straight, pin the crime on someone else, or embrace your inner vigilante. And there's a twist—you might not be as innocent as you initially seem!

You'll have to play Expelled! to uncover the truth for yourself.
