Speculation about a new installment in the beloved Back to the Future franchise has been quashed by screenwriter Bob Gale. Despite rumors fueled by the success of the Cobra Kai series, Gale firmly states there will "never" be any continuation of the Back to the Future saga.
In an interview with People, Gale expressed his frustration with the constant inquiries about the franchise's future. "I don't know why they keep talking about that!" he exclaimed. "I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?" He firmly dismissed the possibility of a Back to the Future 4, a prequel, or any spinoff, stating, "Never. It's just fine the way it is. It's not perfect, but as Bob Zemeckis used to say, 'It's perfect enough.'"

While Gale's stance is clear, he acknowledges the power of Hollywood to potentially override his wishes. However, he believes that executive producer Steven Spielberg, who would need to approve any revival, shares their sentiment against expanding the franchise. Gale humorously noted, "If the juggernaut of corporate America or corporate international mishigas says, ‘If you don't agree to this, we're going to kill your children,’ alright, well, no, we don't want our children killed,’" emphasizing his strong opposition.
Gale also highlighted Spielberg's respect for their decision, stating, "Steven Spielberg, of course, he's got to sign off on it too. And Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more Back to the Future. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven."
Gale's consistent position was reiterated in February when he bluntly told fans hoping for a Back to the Future 4, "People always say, ‘When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, ‘F\*\*k you.' "
