The highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei, has finally unveiled its release date alongside an exciting new trailer that dives deep into its story and gameplay. Mark your calendars for October 2, 2025, and get ready to immerse yourself in this next chapter of the Ghost series.
PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions have thrilled fans by announcing the release date for Ghost of Yōtei. On April 23, the developers released a captivating trailer titled "The Onryō’s List", which not only showcases the game's compelling narrative but also offers glimpses of thrilling gameplay. The trailer culminates with the exciting reveal of the game's launch date, set for October 2, 2025.
Ghost of Yōtei takes players on a journey with Atsu, a protagonist set in the historical region of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), who is driven by a quest for vengeance against the notorious Yōtei Six. This group of outlaws, comprising The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito, are responsible for the tragic loss of her family. Atsu's mission is to hunt each member down, one by one.
As a standalone sequel, Ghost of Yōtei is set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Earlier this year, Sucker Punch provided fans with insights into the game's new features, including an array of new weapons and mechanics that build on the foundations laid by its predecessor.
One of the standout features of Ghost of Yōtei is the freedom it grants players in their pursuit of the Yōtei Six. Sucker Punch detailed this and more on the PlayStation.blog on April 23, offering a deeper look into Atsu's journey and the game's evolving open-world exploration.
Players can choose the order in which they hunt down the outlaws, crafting a unique path of revenge. Beyond this central quest, the game offers a variety of activities in the expansive region of Ezo. "Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills," the blog post explains.
Returning features like the fan-favorite "Guiding Wind" will be available, alongside a new mechanic allowing players to build campfires anywhere in the open world. The emphasis on player freedom in the vast landscape of Ezo is a key focus for the developers, who are eager to share more in the coming months.
Pre-orders for Ghost of Yōtei will kick off on May 2 at 10:00 AM ET. The standard edition, priced at $69.99, will be available at retail and on the PlayStation Store. Pre-order bonuses for any edition include the Atsu + Yōtei Six Avatar Set and an in-game mask.
For those looking for more, the Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99 offers additional in-game bonuses such as the Snake Armor, a digital deluxe armor dye, a horse and saddle, a sword kit, a charm, and an early unlock for the Traveler’s Map, which aids in upgrading skills by finding statues in the open world.
The ultimate offering for dedicated fans is the Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition, priced at $249.99. This edition includes all pre-order and digital deluxe bonuses, plus exclusive physical items such as Atsu’s Ghost Mask, a sash with the names of the Yōtei Six, a tsuba from Atsu’s katana, a Zeni Hajiki coin game and pouch, a papercraft Ginkgo tree, and art cards.
Although pre-orders won't be available until May 2, players can wishlist the game now on the PlayStation Store. Keep an eye out for more updates as we approach the October 2, 2025 launch date.
