MiHoYo has tantalized fans with a glimpse of their latest project, hinting at a new Honkai game that promises to bring a Pokémon-like experience to the series. Dive into the details of the trailer and explore whether this could be the much-talked-about Honkai Nexus Anima.
During the Honkai Star Rail Concert livestream on May 4, MiHoYo unveiled a 20-second teaser that showcased Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd and Blade from Honkai: Star Rail, engaging in battles with creatures and monsters. This brief glimpse suggests a gameplay experience reminiscent of Pokémon battles, potentially featuring auto-chess strategies or monster-collecting mechanics.
This direction isn't entirely surprising, given the popularity of creatures in MiHoYo's other titles. Both Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail have successfully introduced beloved critters, leading fans to speculate that these creatures could be the stars of a standalone game.
In Genshin Impact, players can capture monsters for their Serenitea Pot, and events like "Fabulous Fungus Frenzy" have allowed players to engage in beast-taming tournaments. Similarly, Honkai Star Rail's "Aetherium Wars" event used turn-based mechanics with in-game monsters, echoing the essence of Pokémon's battle system.
The teaser concluded with silhouettes of various characters from the Honkai series, including what appears to be Aventurine from Star Rail. This suggests that the new game will feature a wide array of characters from across the franchise, with fans eagerly anticipating the inclusion of Genshin Impact characters as well.
Speculation is rife that this teased game could be the rumored Honkai Nexus Anima, following MiHoYo's recent trademark filing. While the filing itself offered little detail, the timing and nature of the teaser have fueled these theories.
Further supporting this speculation are job listings from HoYoVerse in September 2024, which hinted at projects involving "Character Concept Art (Anthropomorphic Animals)" for a chibi-style life simulation and "Scene Concept Art – Honkai IP Pre-research" for fantasy spirit companions.
Although MiHoYo confirmed the teased game as a new Honkai title, no official statement has yet linked it directly to Honkai Nexus Anima. The community remains abuzz with theories and excitement, eagerly awaiting more information.
Despite the intrigue and speculation, the teaser has undoubtedly heightened anticipation among MiHoYo's fanbase. With the company's track record of delivering engaging and innovative gaming experiences, expectations are high for this new addition to the Honkai universe.
