FIFA is partnering with Mythical Games to bring you FIFA Rivals, an officially licensed football game designed for mobile. Set to release on iOS and Android soon, this new arcade-style approach shifts focus from traditional simulation to something faster and more dynamic. Games like eFootball and EA Sports FC Mobile already dominate the space, so it’s nice to have a fresh take on the sport.
EA Sports and FIFA were together for three decades and now with their split, it’s become more important for the latter to forge new alliances. This team-up should help FIFA expand into non-simulation formats, where Mythical Games already has a proven track record. The critically acclaimed NFL Rivals has garnered over six million downloads and now I’d expect newer records to be hit given the sport's popularity.
In FIFA Rivals, you’ll manage and develop your football club from scratch. Build a team, level up your squad, and test your skills against others in real-time PvP matches. The core setup is pretty run-of-the-mill like any other football sim, but the difference lies in the action-packed gameplay it promises.
The focus is on fast-paced, arcade-style football, hopefully bringing a different kind of excitement compared to traditional simulators. Whether you want to compete casually or push your strategies to the limit, it appears there's room for both approaches.

Another increasingly popular feature we’re seeing is blockchain integration. FIFA Rivals will be part of the Mythos blockchain technology, which will allow you to own, buy, sell, and trade your favourite stars in dedicated in-game marketplaces. It’s designed to give you more control over how you engage with your lineup
We don’t have a concrete release date for the launch of FIFA Rivals, but it’s currently slated to release summer 2025. It is set to be free-to-play, so anyone can hop into the action. You can visit the official X page for more information.
