Nintendo has officially confirmed that the mysterious new button on the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con is indeed the "C" button, putting an end to months of speculation. This confirmation came through the newly released Nintendo Today! app, where a close look at the app's promotional images clearly shows the letter "C" on the button.
The new button was first revealed earlier this year alongside the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, but initial images of the Joy-Con did not feature any letter on the button. However, as rumors suggested, it has been officially named the "C" button.

Speculation about the purpose of the C button is rampant. Some believe it could be used for wirelessly casting the Switch 2 to a TV or for screen sharing. Others speculate it might toggle the Joy-Con into a different functionality mode, such as a mouse mode. There's also talk about it possibly being related to new group or voice chat features.
Nintendo has scheduled a Switch 2 Direct for April 2, which should provide more details on the C button and other features. In the meantime, here's what we know for certain about the Nintendo Switch 2:

Meanwhile, Nintendo recently held a Direct focused on the original Switch, during which they announced the Nintendo Today! app. Video game legend Shigeru Miyamoto introduced this new app as a last-minute addition to the showcase. The app serves as a comprehensive hub for Nintendo fans, offering a daily calendar and news updates to keep players informed about the latest developments.
Miyamoto emphasized that following the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, fans can use the Nintendo Today! app to stay up-to-date with daily news and updates. This app promises to be an essential tool for die-hard Nintendo enthusiasts looking to stay in the loop with the latest from the gaming giant.
