"Oblivion Remastered Retains Iconic Line Flub"

by Christian May 14,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda's most cherished titles, enhancing it with stunning visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, in a nod to the original, the team at Virtuos has preserved one of its most iconic and beloved quirks: a memorable voice acting blooper from the character Tandilwe.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series are well-acquainted with Tandilwe, the Master Speechcraft trainer, a High Elf residing in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first debuted on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's voice lines, including a notorious flub by actress Linda Kenyon, became instantly recognizable. Despite the remaster's extensive updates, this amusing mistake has been lovingly retained, complete with its original lack of subtitles.

As players embarked on their journey through the revitalized world of Cyrodiil, many were eager to discover the extent of the remaster's faithfulness to the original. While the game boasts revamped environments, character models, and items, the preservation of cherished imperfections, such as Tandilwe’s blooper, has thrilled fans.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube's Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon humorously defended the infamous blooper, stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands dive into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl around whether the game leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, many players appreciate that Bethesda and Virtuos have chosen to keep much of the original's charm and quirks intact, a decision that has resonated well with both new and returning players.

The surprise launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S has been met with enthusiasm. The modding community has also rallied, releasing numerous mods shortly after the remaster's announcement.
