Ryan Reynolds Explains Deadpool's Solo Path, Avoiding Avengers and X-Men

Ryan Reynolds has cast doubt on the chances of Deadpool joining either the Avengers or the X-Men, suggesting that such a move would signal the character's narrative end. Despite the success of Deadpool & Wolverine and Deadpool's on-screen desire to join the Avengers, Reynolds told Time that integrating Deadpool into these teams would be "wish fulfillment" and not true to the character's isolated nature. He hinted, however, that a cameo appearance, similar to Wesley Snipes' Blade cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, could be a fitting way for Deadpool to appear in future projects.

The recent cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday included several veteran X-Men actors such as Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, raising questions about whether the film might secretly be an Avengers vs. X-Men movie. While Reynolds' name was absent from the list, Channing Tatum, who played Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, is set to appear.

Looking ahead, Reynolds is currently writing a new project involving an "ensemble," though he remains tight-lipped about the details.
