Ryan Reynolds 'Early Stages' of Deadpool and X-Men Movie

by David May 17,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of developing a new film that would bring together Deadpool and several X-Men characters. According to THR, this ensemble movie would not focus solely on Deadpool but would instead feature him alongside three or four other X-Men members, with these characters taking center stage and being utilized in "unexpected ways." This project, which is separate from the X-Men film being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie, reflects a similar development process to Deadpool & Wolverine, where Reynolds initially conceptualized the film as a low-budget road trip movie before pitching it to Marvel.

While no specific X-Men characters have been confirmed for this new project, Deadpool has a history of teaming up with various members of the X-Men in past films, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit. This isn't the first time Reynolds has been linked to an ensemble Deadpool movie, but this report provides more insight into the potential direction of the Merc With a Mouth's future adventures.
