"The Last of Us Season 2 Adds Six to Cast Before April Premiere"

by Gabriel May 05,2025

HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 is gearing up for its April premiere by adding six new actors to its already impressive cast. According to a recent report from Variety, the new additions include Joe Pantoliano (known for Memento and The Matrix), Alanna Ubach (Euphoria, Bombshell), Ben Ahlers (The Gilded Age, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Hettienne Park (Don’t Look Up), Robert John Burke (RoboCop 3), and Noah Lamanna (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).

These late additions to the cast will bring to life characters from the original The Last of Us Part II game, as well as introduce new faces to the series. Joe Pantoliano is set to portray Eugene, a character who was originally just a minor presence in the game as Ellie and Dina's friend known for his pot-smoking habits. In Season 2, Eugene's role will be significantly expanded, giving fans a deeper look into his background and his relationship with Joel and Ellie.

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann shared with Variety that this expansion is similar to the approach taken with Bill in Season 1. Druckmann expressed his enthusiasm for fleshing out characters like Eugene, stating, "I get excited when I see these opportunities... The story we told [in the game] was somewhat superficial. The way this character comes in really gets to the heart of Joel and Ellie and their relationship."

Robert John Burke will take on the role of Seth, the bar owner and bigot from The Last of Us Part II, while Noah Lamanna will play Kat, Ellie's former girlfriend. Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, and Hettienne Park will portray new characters named Hanrahan, Burton, and Elise Park, respectively.

These new cast members join returning stars like Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy. The showrunners have hinted that the storyline from The Last of Us Part II will be spread across multiple seasons, promising more exciting developments as the episodes unfold.

The Last of Us Season 2 is set to premiere on April 13, bringing the events of The Last of Us Part II into the live-action realm.
