Shift Up's Stellar Blade Sees Record Year, PC Sales to Surpass PS5

by George May 12,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind the hit game Stellar Blade, has reported a record-breaking financial year, with the game generating a staggering $43 million in royalties. According to Game World Observer, Shift Up's 2024 financial report showcased a total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a significant 30.4% increase from the previous year. Stellar Blade alone contributed $43.2 million to this impressive figure.

The momentum shows no signs of waning, as Shift Up confidently predicts that the upcoming PC version of Stellar Blade will surpass the sales of the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian market. The company is also gearing up to unveil its next project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. While this new game isn't a sequel to Stellar Blade, Shift Up has hinted at the possibility of creating another title in the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade, released on PS5, immerses players in the role of Eve, who fights against mysterious invaders to reclaim Earth in a thrilling action RPG. The game garnered a 7/10 rating from IGN and swiftly sold over a million copies, proving its popularity. IGN's review praised Stellar Blade for excelling in key aspects of an action game but noted that it fell short due to unengaging characters, a lackluster storyline, and some frustrating RPG mechanics.
