by Skylar May 16,2025

Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling nearly four million copies. This impressive figure was confirmed by publisher EA in its latest financial results, highlighting the game as a "hugely successful launch" and attributing it as a key factor in their strong finish to the 2025 financial year.

In a jubilant social media post, Hazelight celebrated the news with an enthusiastic "4 MILLION SOLD!!!!" They expressed their gratitude, saying, "So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made…"

Play**Split Fiction** immerses players into the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where two players can enjoy the game even if only one owns it. Launched in March, the game quickly became a hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, selling over two million copies within its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 as Hazelight begins work on its next project.

Furthermore, a film adaptation of Split Fiction is in development, with Story Kitchen, the studio behind the Sonic films, currently assembling a team of writers, a director, and a cast that will feature Sydney Sweeney.

In our review, IGN praised Split Fiction as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another." We noted that it offers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced," keeping the experience "fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
