Star Wars Outlaws Set for Nintendo Switch 2 Release

by Connor May 06,2025

Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, though it won't be available at the console's launch on June 5. Instead, fans will have to wait until September 4 to embark on this space adventure on the new Nintendo handheld.

Set between the iconic films "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," Star Wars: Outlaws follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal who becomes a target of a powerful cartel. Our review of the game on PS5, Xbox, and PC awarded it a score of 7 out of 10, praising its engaging intergalactic heist narrative and expansive exploration. However, the experience was somewhat marred by simplistic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and several bugs at launch.

While Ubisoft remained tight-lipped about further details, the confirmation of Star Wars: Outlaws for the Nintendo Switch 2 is a significant addition to the Switch 2 Games List. This news comes at a time when American and Canadian gamers are anxiously awaiting updates on pre-orders due to new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration, making any information on upcoming Switch 2 titles a welcome relief.

The announcement was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled "A Pirate’s Fortune." This expansion will see Kay Vess teaming up with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. "Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune" is set to release on May 15, adding more excitement for fans eagerly awaiting the game's arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2.
