The Pokemon TCG Pocket mini-expansion, Mythical Island, introduces 80 new unique cards that can significantly impact the game's meta. Here's a detailed look at the standout cards from the Mythical Island Pack.
Mythical Island, despite being a smaller release, brings exciting cards that can either create new archetypes or enhance existing deck strategies within Pokemon TCG Pocket. Let's delve into the top cards to keep an eye on.
130 HP
Psyshot (1 Psy Energy): 20 damage.
Genome Hacking (3 Colorless Energy): Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks and use it as this attack.
Mew Ex stands out as a highlight of the Mythical Island set. As a Basic Pokemon with a solid HP count, it offers a versatile first attack and the powerful Genome Hacking ability. This card could seamlessly integrate into existing Mewtwo Ex decks, complementing the Gardevoir line, or even bolster Colorless decks.
120 HP
Wash Out (Ability): As often as you like during your turn, you may move a Water Energy from 1 of your Benched Water Pokemon to your Active Water Pokemon.
Wave Splash (1 Water, 2 Colorless Energy): 60 damage.
Vaporeon has the potential to reshape the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta, particularly if Misty decks continue to dominate. The ability to shift Water Energy around can make Water decks even more formidable, especially against high-rolling Misty strategies.
100 HP
Fighting Tackle (3 Colorless Energy): If your opponent’s Active Pokemon is a Pokemon Ex, this attack does 80 more damage. 40+ damage.
Although Tauros requires setup, its attack can be devastating against Ex decks. Capable of dealing 120 damage to any Ex, it can swiftly dismantle Pikachu Ex decks and pose a significant threat to Charizard Ex decks.
120 HP
Gigashock (3 Lightning Energy): This attack also does 20 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. 60 damage.
Raichu enhances the already powerful Pikachu Ex decks, particularly those paired with Zebstrika. Its ability to deal 20 damage to each of the opponent's Benched Pokemon can disrupt slow-building strategies, making it a valuable addition to Surge decks.
Effect: During your opponent’s next turn, all of your Pokemon take -10 damage from attacks from your opponent’s Pokemon.
Blue, a new Trainer/Supporter card introduced in Mythical Island, offers a solid defensive option against aggressive strategies like those employed by Blaine and Giovanni decks. By anticipating knockouts, Blue can disrupt opponents' plans effectively.
