Transformers: Reactivate Gameplay Footage Leaks After Game’s Cancellation

Cancelled Transformers Game: Leaked Gameplay Footage Surfaces

Recently cancelled Transformers: Reactivate, a co-op game announced by Splash Damage in 2022, has seen previously leaked gameplay footage resurface online. The game, a collaboration between Splash Damage and Hasbro, was intended to feature Generation 1 Autobots and Decepticons uniting against an alien threat, "the Legion," to protect Earth.

Despite its 2022 announcement at The Game Awards, Transformers: Reactivate remained largely unseen, fueling speculation before its eventual cancellation. Splash Damage cited a shift in focus to other projects, potentially resulting in layoffs.

Following the cancellation, leaked footage from a 2020 build has re-emerged. This footage showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes, and utilizing various weapons. The gameplay bears resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but pits Bumblebee against the Legion instead of the Decepticons.

The leaked footage, while showing some unfinished textures, appears polished and includes environmental destruction. A silent cutscene depicts Bumblebee emerging from a portal in a ruined New York City, contacting an ally named Devin regarding the Legion's attacks.

Numerous other leaks, dating back to 2020, predate the game's official announcement and subsequent cancellation. While Transformers: Reactivate will never be released, the leaked footage offers a glimpse into the potential of this ambitious, yet ultimately unsuccessful, multiplayer title.
