Game Introduction

Tute Cabrero is a widely enjoyed card game throughout South America.

Played by 3 to 5 players, Tute Cabrero is an every-person-for-themselves game with no teams.

The goal is to score either the most points or the fewest points (known as "going for more" or "going for less"); the player in second place loses. The game uses a 40-card Spanish deck.

Card rankings, from highest to lowest, are: Ace (11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2 (these have no point value).

The first card played in a trick sets the suit. Each player must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play any card. The trump suit wins the trick. If no trump is played, the highest card of the leading suit wins.
