The Ultra franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary next year, prompting Tsuburaya Productions to launch a major commemorative initiative. Dubbed the [[IMG_BASE64_PLACEHOLDER]]Ultra Series 60th Anniversary Project[[/IMG_BASE64_PLACEHOLDER]], it aims to expand the legacy of Ultraman worldwide. A key part of this project is a new mobile game titled Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch.
Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch is a match-3 puzzle game slated for a global release on Android and iOS in 2025. However, the game will not be available in mainland China or European Union member states.
The game's story unfolds on the distant planet Milanos. Players will meet more than 60 characters spanning the entire Ultra Series, from classic Ultra Heroes to famous kaiju. The roster covers every era, from Showa to Reiwa.
This includes legendary figures like the original Ultraman, Ultraman Tiga Multi Type, Ultraseven, Alien Baltan, Gomora, and Zetton. The game is co-developed by MetaField and StudioZ, both subsidiaries of the Tsuburaya Group.
Ultraman first premiered on television in July 1966 with "Ultra Q," captivating audiences with its messages of courage, hope, and compassion. The 60th-anniversary project will unfold over approximately two and a half years. Beyond the new game, plans include a new TV series, live stage shows, digital content, and extensive merchandise.
The choice of a match-3 puzzle genre for this anniversary title is an interesting one. The question remains: can this gameplay style capture the epic scale of Ultraman's action? Only time will tell. An official release date has not yet been announced. For now, fans can visit the official website for further details and updates.
