Polish developer 11 Bit Studios has released a new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi adventure, The Alters, highlighting its connection to their critically acclaimed war survival game, This War of Mine. While This War of Mine is renowned for its grim depiction of wartime survival, The Alters offers a surprisingly vibrant and humorous narrative, focusing on the adventures of alternate versions of protagonist Jan Dolski. Despite their contrasting tones, both games share a core thematic element: survival.
In This War of Mine, players grapple with the harsh realities of a war-torn city, meticulously managing resources and facing daily challenges to keep their civilian group alive. The Alters, however, presents a different kind of survival—a race against a relentless, dust-inducing sun, requiring players to constantly relocate their mobile base.
Both games challenge players to confront hostile environments and scavenge for essential resources. The key distinction lies in the playable characters: This War of Mine features a group of ordinary civilians, while The Alters stars a unique team of Jan Dolski's alternate selves.
The Alters is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on launch day.
