Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

by Allison Apr 21,2025

There's an exciting new development in the world of voice assistants: Alexa+ is now available in Early Access. This upgraded version of the standard Alexa is powered by generative AI, bringing a host of new features that promise a more natural conversational flow. Amazon touts Alexa+ as being "more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done," making it a significant leap forward in voice assistant technology.

Currently, Alexa+ is in Early Access and can only be experienced on select Echo Show devices, including the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or are planning to purchase one of these devices, you can be among the first to try out Alexa+. To stay updated on when Early Access will be available, you can sign up for notifications via the link provided below. Following the Early Access phase, Alexa+ will be available as a free benefit for Amazon Prime members or for non-Prime users at a cost of $19.99 per month.

The conversational capabilities of Alexa+ allow you to ask anything that comes to mind, making it incredibly versatile for various tasks. Whether it's helping you manage your to-do list, pulling up specific details from your calendar, or booking a restaurant reservation, Alexa+ is designed to streamline your daily activities. The Alexa+ Early Access page hints at "new features being added regularly," suggesting that even more enhancements are on the horizon post-Early Access.

However, it's important to note that not all devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older generation Echo devices such as the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to operate with the original Alexa. Amazon has indicated plans to expand Alexa+ compatibility to more devices, including Fire TV and Fire tablets, as well as Alexa.com, in the near future.
