Avowed: All Playable Races Revealed

Avowed, the exciting new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, expands upon the rich fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the Pillars of Eternity series. While Eora boasts a diverse array of races, Avowed's character creator offers a more limited selection. Let's explore the playable races available at launch.

Humans (Folk)

Humans, or Folk as they're known in-game, are the most common race in Avowed and offer a wide range of customization options. As part of the broader Kith group, Humans benefit from extensive presets, detailed sliders for skin tone, and a variety of hairstyles and textures, ensuring players can create a character that truly represents them.

Elves

Elves provide another playable race option. Visually similar to humans, Elves are distinguished by their slightly different facial structures and, of course, those iconic pointed ears.

Godlikes

While all Envoys in the game's narrative are Godlikes, players can choose to incorporate or omit Godlike features in their character creation. Godlikes offer unique and varied hair and facial options, ranging from subtle to strikingly surreal. At launch, 14 distinct facial features and four hairstyles are available, offering customization across all characters regardless of race or body type.

Character Customization: Gender and Body Type

Avowed provides four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Players can select from two masculine and two feminine voice options, and choose their character's pronouns (he/him, she/her, or they/them).

Unplayable Races

While Avowed features a diverse cast of Non-Player Characters (NPCs) representing various Kith races, not all are playable. Dwarves, the semi-aquatic Aumaua, and the smaller, hairy Orlans, while present in the game world, are currently unavailable for player character creation. However, future updates or DLC may expand these options.
