Black Ops 6 is the top-selling game of 2024 In the US

Circana's data reveals that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 secured the top spot as the best-selling game in the United States during 2024, marking the Call of Duty franchise's sixteenth consecutive year at the helm of the U.S. market. EA Sports College Football 25 claimed the title of most popular sports game, launching to consoles in July.

While overall U.S. gaming spending experienced a slight 1.1% year-over-year decline, Circana attributes this to reduced hardware demand. Conversely, spending on add-ons and services saw growth, increasing by 2% and 6%, respectively.

Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2's second season is set to launch January 28th, featuring a ninja-themed update and a crossover with the "Terminator" franchise.

Critical acclaim and player feedback highlight the game's diverse and engaging missions, preventing gameplay monotony. The innovative shooting mechanics and revamped movement system—allowing movement and shooting in any direction, even while falling or prone—garnered significant praise. The approximately eight-hour campaign length was also well-received, deemed neither too brief nor overly extensive. Positive player sentiment largely echoed these reviews, particularly focusing on the zombies mode and the campaign itself.

However, Black Ops 6 wasn't without its detractors. A significant portion of Steam reviews cite technical issues as a major drawback. Reported problems include frequent crashes and inconsistent server connectivity, hindering progression through the story mode.
