Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved phenomenal success, surpassing eight million units sold within its first three days—a record-breaking feat that makes it Capcom's fastest-selling game ever.
Capcom announced these impressive figures, highlighting Wilds' exceptionally strong launch. This surpasses the five million units shipped by 2018's Monster Hunter: World and the four million shipped by Monster Hunter Rise in 2021.
This remarkable performance isn't entirely unexpected. Monster Hunter Wilds soared past one million concurrent Steam players during its opening weekend, even outperforming Cyberpunk 2077 to become the 7th most-played game on the platform. This success also contributed to Steam exceeding 40 million concurrent players for the first time.
Our Monster Hunter Wilds review praised the game for its refined gameplay, stating that it "continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."
The Monster Hunter franchise, launched in 2004 on PlayStation 2, continues to thrive. Capcom revealed that the series has now sold over 108 million units worldwide as of December 31, 2024.
