Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide

Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before initiation. However, Kuttenberg grants access to inter-regional travel. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.

Prerequisites: "In Vino Veritas"

Before tackling "Under the Straw Hat," you must begin "In Vino Veritas." This quest unfolds in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, locate Casper Rudolf, offering free wine samples on the city's west side. He requires information to enhance his winemaking.

You can either directly approach Havel, showcasing your wine expertise, or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta, gaining knowledge through reading. If choosing Havel, ensure you're appropriately attired (clean and wearing fine clothes). Select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" during your conversation with Havel to obtain crucial information. Report your findings to Casper.

Infiltrating the Vineyard

Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by using the main road. Speak with the recruiter; this initiates the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Proceed along the road, past a guard, to find Jerome.

Inform Jerome of your assignment. He'll provide details about vineyard work.

Vineyard Work (Optional) and Incense Acquisition

Your work begins the following day. Return to the vineyard. You can either complete assigned tasks (moving sacks, harvesting thistles) for payment or directly seek the secret incense.

The incense resides in the cellar of the main building. Access requires lockpicking or stealing Jerome's keys. Remember, unauthorized entry results in punishment.

Locate the chest in the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks. This completes the primary objective. For increased reward, collect five seedlings (another act of trespassing—act quickly!). Seedlings are found across the building from the main entrance.

After obtaining the wicks (and optionally, seedlings), return to Casper to conclude both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." Subsequent quests, such as "Master Schindel’s Toys," can then be pursued.
