Nu Udra is a challenging adversary in Monster Hunter Wilds due to its massive tentacles, which grant it a wide reach and make dodging its attacks quite difficult. For melee weapon users, the tentacles are the most accessible limbs to strike. Severing them not only provides extra materials but also limits the monster's reach. However, be cautious as these limbs are also potent weapons in the creature's arsenal.
For those wielding ranged weapons, there are various targets to consider, but the mouth stands out as the prime spot due to its 4-star weakness. Locating it can be tricky given Nu Udra's almost entirely black skin. Despite this, focusing on the mouth is highly recommended. Alternatively, the head, with its 3-star weakness to ammo damage, is another effective target for blunt and cut damage.
Given Nu Udra's fire affinity in Monster Hunter Wilds, it frequently employs fire-based attacks. At certain points, the monster will even ignite itself, posing a threat through the Fireblight debuff. To mitigate this risk, using Watermoss is crucial, allowing you to attack safely without succumbing to the status ailment.
If you're finding the fight challenging, equipping gear with fire resistance is essential. The Quematrice armor set is recommended as it features the Fire Resistance skill. Additionally, consider using decorations like the Fire Res Jewel to reduce fire damage, or the Stream Jewel to boost your water-based attacks.
Among Nu Udra's arsenal of dangerous moves in Monster Hunter Wilds, its grab attack is particularly lethal. If you're too close, the monster may ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. During the brief pause before the fire attack, you can either use a knife to break free or target its weak spot with a Slinger.

To capture Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, you can't deploy it immediately. First, you need to weaken the monster by attacking it until it's on the brink of death, indicated by a skull icon next to the boss icon. You can use meat as bait to lure Nu Udra into the trap or simply position yourself behind the trap while it's targeting you. Once trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer to put it to sleep. You have a mere five seconds before the monster breaks free.
This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about defeating and capturing Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds. Given the monster's challenging nature, consider teaming up in multiplayer to increase your chances of success.
