During the exciting DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled Digimon Alysion, a fresh mobile trading card game (TCG) that's set to captivate fans. As the mobile gaming scene grows with hits like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, Digimon Alysion aims to bring the thrill of TCGs to the mobile platform, expanding its reach and engaging a wider audience.
Digimon Alysion promises to be a free-to-play digital card game where enthusiasts can amass a collection of cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the beloved franchise. Players will have the chance to construct their decks and challenge others in thrilling battles. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its potential to include an immersive story mode, which would offer players a narrative-driven experience alongside the traditional and competitive gameplay.
A new trailer for Digimon Alysion was also showcased, providing glimpses of gameplay and introducing an all-female cast speculated to be central to the story mode. Notable new characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, alongside a newly introduced Digimon called Gemmon. While an official release date hasn't been set, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with more details to follow.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 shed light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara delved into the game's background, spotlighting its main characters and the unique abilities of featured Digimon.
Hara confirmed that players can select from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all iconic from the original Digimon Adventure anime. These choices had been widely speculated upon due to their presence in the game's promotional materials.
Time Stranger boasts an expansive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which had 330 Digimon. The new trailer highlighted some of these, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon.
The storyline of Time Stranger was also unveiled, featuring dual protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, dedicated to uncovering threats to humans and Digimon. Another key character introduced is the main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner, Aegiomon, who will join players on their journey. The narrative will revolve around the concept of time travel, with the protagonists navigating through different eras.
The event also celebrated the Digimon Anime's 25th Anniversary with a new promotional video, announced new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and teased a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to launch in October 2025. The future looks bright for the Digimon franchise, with much to look forward to in the coming months.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates, be sure to check out our comprehensive article below!
