Dragon Age: The Veilguard Surprises Fans with Free Weapon DLC After Months of Silence

BioWare has largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the dedicated team still working on the game has managed to surprise fans with a new, small DLC weapons pack. This unexpected addition has stirred excitement among the Dragon Age community.

The RPG's Steam page was recently updated to feature the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, a free add-on content that has taken fans by surprise. Given that EA had previously indicated limited future support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this new content feels like a welcome gift. The game's fifth patch in January had focused on addressing critical bugs, making the addition of new content even more unexpected.

Interestingly, the Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available to current owners of the game and new PC purchasers until April 8, 2025. While there's no detailed description of the bundle's contents, players have discovered that it includes a set of Watchful skins accessible in the Rook’s in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S users.

“Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever,” one Steam review noted, “they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!”

Another fan on Reddit commented, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received positive reviews upon its October launch, but according to EA, it didn't capture a wide enough audience. Key members of the development team announced their departure from BioWare in late January, as many staff members were either laid off or reassigned within the company. EA confirmed to IGN that the studio would now be fully focused on the next Mass Effect installment.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard became part of the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles just four months after its release. No further plans for its future have been disclosed.
