The highly anticipated game, *The Exit 8*, has now made its way to Android, blending various intriguing elements. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this title is available for $3.99. It's not just any walking simulator; it's one that wraps you in an eerie atmosphere, prompting you to question every step you take.
In *The Exit 8*, you find yourself navigating an endless underground passageway that mimics a Japanese metro station. You're trapped in a loop where the tiles, lights, posters, and even a solitary man walking towards you repeat endlessly. The core challenge lies in detecting anomalies. These could be subtle, like a poster with a different graphic than before, or more obvious, such as a river of blood flowing where the floor should be. The game's mechanic revolves around noticing these changes and reacting quickly.
If you spot something unusual, you must turn back. If not, continue moving forward. The objective is to reach the eighth exit without any mistakes. This means you need to correctly spot and react to anomalies eight times consecutively. Fail to do so, and you'll have to start over.
The game's design draws inspiration from the concept of liminal spaces and the Backrooms. The setting is modeled after real Japanese metro stations, such as Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo, which adds to the claustrophobic and repetitive feel of the architecture.
*The Exit 8* encourages active engagement with your surroundings, pushing you to search for the tiniest details that might signal danger or a shift in reality. The way it challenges your memory and perception ensures that each playthrough feels unique.
Originally released for PC in November 2023, *The Exit 8* took about nine months to develop. Following its launch, it garnered an impressive 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
