Game Freak Unveils Leaked Pokémon Champions Multiplayer Game

by Ryan May 12,2025

After months of speculation and leaks, fans have been treated to the first official reveal of Pokémon Champions, an exciting new multiplayer battle-centric Pokémon game. This title is the result of a groundbreaking collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works, a recent joint venture involving The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the developers behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Champions is designed to immerse players in the thrill of Pokémon battles, featuring the beloved "core-style battles" that fans know and love. The game promises a dynamic online battling experience where players can compete against each other. The trailer showcased the inclusion of both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, hinting at a comprehensive battle system that spans various types and generations of Pokémon.

PlayOne of the standout features of **Pokémon Champions** is its integration with **Pokémon Home**. This connectivity allows players to transfer Pokémon from other games into **Pokémon Champions**, offering a fresh way to utilize Pokémon that have been stored away from past generations.

Currently in development for both Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, Pokémon Champions does not yet have a release date. However, it will be available in Latin American Spanish at launch, along with other languages previously featured in Pokémon games.

Key art for Pokemon ChampionsThe game appears to be the same as Pokémon Synapse, which was initially leaked during the "Freak Leak" last year. This leak exposed a wealth of internal Game Freak information, including unreleased games and Pokémon designs. At the time, Pokémon Synapse was described as a multiplayer project co-developed by Game Freak and ILCA, with some early comparisons to Splatoon, though those comparisons now seem slightly off the mark.
