God of War Ragnarok Marks 20th Anniversary with Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This free update, arriving on March 20, brings a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, available to all players on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Sony shared the details of their comprehensive plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the God of War series in a recent PlayStation.Blog post. The Dark Odyssey update is a highlight, offering a sleek black-and-gold aesthetic that enhances the appearance of Kratos, Atreus, and Freya as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. In addition to new looks for the characters, the update includes various cosmetic sets for shields and weapons.

The centerpiece of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the armor set and appearance for Kratos, which draws inspiration from a legendary skin previously exclusive to those who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. This coveted content can be accessed from any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in the roguelike Valhalla mode of God of War Ragnarök post-update. Furthermore, the update introduces the much-anticipated feature to customize Kratos' weapons' appearance without compromising their unique abilities.
