The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will feature distinct pricing strategies in Japan and globally, offering two different versions of the system. The Japanese version, exclusive to Japan, will be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System version, available worldwide, will be set at $449.99. This significant price difference of over $100 is largely due to the current weakness of the yen against the USD, making it less appealing for tourists to buy in Japan.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will come in two versions: a Japanese-language system, available only in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, accessible worldwide. The Japanese version, priced at around $330, will be exclusively sold in Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japan region. This version will support only the Japanese language and will be limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. On the other hand, the Multi-Language System, priced at $449.99, caters to a global audience and supports multiple languages. Nintendo advises fans interested in using the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese to opt for the Multi-Language System version. More details about this version will be unveiled on April 4.
To get your hands on the Nintendo Switch 2, you'll need to participate in a lottery system at the My Nintendo Store. Starting April 24, retailers and online shops across the country will also open reservations or lottery entries based on availability. To enter the My Nintendo Store lottery, you must meet certain criteria: by February 28, 2025, you should have logged at least 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch software (excluding demos and free software), and you must have been subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online for at least one year at the time of application. Additional information about the application process will be available on the My Nintendo Store on April 4.
