Marvel Rivals has made a significant U-turn on its latest update concerning player rank resets following a wave of fan complaints. Dive into the details to stay informed about the upcoming changes and developments in the game.
Marvel Rivals has reversed its previous decision on player rank resets after receiving feedback from the community. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced this change in the latest Dev Talk 11, addressing the seasonal rank adjustments.
The controversy arose after the game's Dev Talk 10 update, which proposed a rank reset that would drop players four divisions mid-season. This system was met with criticism from fans, who felt it was demotivating, particularly for those striving to climb the ranks. The proposed reset was set to occur every 45 days or halfway through the season.
In response to the backlash, Marvel Rivals announced in Dev Talk 11 that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping six divisions.
Despite the reversal on the mid-season rank reset, other exciting updates are still on track. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, is set to expand the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has confirmed that two new playable characters will be added each season, with each season lasting three months.
The rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain unchanged. Those who achieve Gold rank or higher after the update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. Additionally, new rewards at the end of the season for those reaching Gold rank will include another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above.
While balance adjustments are expected following the mid-season update, specific details have yet to be disclosed.
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback highlights their commitment to player satisfaction. Just hours after the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, the team addressed the concerns and released Dev Talk 11.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and information, be sure to visit our Marvel Rivals page.
