"Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide"

by Logan May 03,2025

In *Phasmophobia*, tackling the most elusive ghosts often involves using Cursed Possessions, which come with significant risks but also rewarding outcomes. The Haunted Mirror stands out as one of the safest and most useful tools, offering benefits that can greatly enhance your ghost-hunting experience. If you're hesitant about using it, understanding its mechanics can help you make the most of this powerful item.

How to Use the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror is considered one of the safest Cursed Objects available in *Phasmophobia*. Its utility has remained consistent through numerous game updates, making it a highly recommended tool during your investigations. When you encounter the Haunted Mirror, don't hesitate to use it.

The mirror provides a panoramic view of the ghost's current favorite room or area on the map. This feature is invaluable if you're well-versed in the layout of the map, as it enables you to quickly locate the ghost and set up your equipment before the situation escalates.

You'll typically find the Haunted Mirror hanging on a wall or lying on the floor at its designated spot, such as in 6 Tanglewood Drive. Remember, Cursed Objects always spawn in the same location on a map, but the chance of any specific one appearing is randomized.

To activate the Haunted Mirror, simply pick it up and use the appropriate button (either on your mouse or controller) to interact with it. The reflection will show you the ghost's current favorite room. On Professional difficulty or higher, keep in mind that the ghost may move to a different area after some time.

However, be cautious not to gaze into the Haunted Mirror for too long, as it will drain your sanity. If you hold it up until it shatters, a Cursed Hunt will be triggered at your current location. Therefore, it's wise to use the mirror when your sanity is high and to quickly identify the room shown in the reflection.

What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Multiple Cursed Objects in Phasmophobia

Screenshot by The Escapist. Cursed Possessions, commonly referred to as "Cursed Objects," are unique items found randomly across any map in *Phasmophobia*. Their appearance can be influenced by the difficulty settings or if you're playing in Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment, which is used to safely gather evidence and locate the ghost, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts or cheats to manipulate the ghost's behavior. However, they come with much higher risks to your character. Some of these objects are safer to use than others, and it's up to you or your team to decide whether to take the risk.

There's no penalty for avoiding Cursed Objects, and only one will spawn per contract unless modified in Custom settings. The game features seven different Cursed Objects:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw

Understanding how to effectively use the Haunted Mirror can significantly improve your ghost-hunting strategy in *Phasmophobia*.
