Metaphor: ReFantazio Manga Adaptation Debuts!

The first chapter of the official Metaphor: ReFantazio manga is now available for free on MANGA Plus! Atlus and Shueisha have teamed up to bring this adaptation to life, illustrated by Yōichi Amano (known for Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Stealth Symphony).

This manga adaptation takes creative liberties with the game's storyline, significantly altering the initial events. Key differences include the omission of an early game area and the introduction of new scenes, along with restructured encounters between the protagonist and his allies. Importantly, the manga confirms the protagonist's name as Will, aligning with the game's default option.

The next chapter is scheduled for release on February 19th, simultaneously with the Japanese version.

Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus's latest IP from Studio Zero (led by Persona series director Katsura Hashino), has already achieved phenomenal success. The game follows Will and his fairy companion, Gallica, as they embark on a quest to save the prince of Euchronia. Following the king's assassination, the kingdom faces turmoil, leading to a unique succession plan: a leader chosen by the people. Will finds himself thrust into this extraordinary situation.

The game's impressive launch saw over one million copies sold worldwide on its first day, surpassing even Persona 3: Reload in sales speed. Critical acclaim followed, with numerous awards including Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative at the 2024 Game Awards.
