How to Get & Use the Music Box in Phasmophobia

Mastering the Music Box in Phasmophobia: A Comprehensive Guide

Phasmophobia challenges players to identify ghost types and escape unscathed. The game's frequent updates introduce new ghosts and interactive objects, including the enigmatic Music Box. This guide details how to acquire and effectively utilize this valuable tool.

Acquiring the Music Box

Like other cursed items in Phasmophobia, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its spawn is random; luck plays a significant role. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up and activate it with another interaction.

Utilizing the Music Box

Several strategies leverage the Music Box's capabilities. Upon activation, it plays a melody. A ghost within 20 meters will "sing along," revealing its proximity. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. You can strategically place the activated Box on the ground to lure the ghost. The Box automatically stops playing after the song concludes. Note that holding the activated Music Box decreases your sanity.

Triggering a Hunt

The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on specific circumstances:

  • Throwing the active Music Box.
  • Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Music Box.
  • The ghost approaching the Music Box for over five seconds.
  • The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Music Box.

For optimal use, carry supplementary tools like Smudge Sticks to increase survival chances during a triggered hunt. This allows for ghost identification or objective completion.
