Originally developed by Bethesda Game Studios and co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was initially slated to be a launch title for the Xbox 360 in late 2005. Due to delays, however, the Xbox 360 and PC versions hit the market in March 2006.

The mobile version, crafted by Superscape and published by Vir2L Studios, followed in May 2006. The PlayStation 3 edition was released in North America in March 2007 and in Europe the following month. A planned PSP version was unfortunately cancelled. Oblivion was also bundled with other popular titles like Fallout 3 and BioShock in various releases.
