Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and even weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its subtle placement makes it easy to miss. This guide details how to locate and activate this crucial buff.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its inconspicuous nature on the world map often leads to players overlooking it.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no fixed location within the Spires of Deshar. However, it's always present on this map; thorough exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Activating it triggers a fight with metallic automatons guarding the area. Indeed, interacting with the shrine animates all automatons on the map.

If you reach a checkpoint before finding the shrine, fast travel back to that checkpoint for easier access.

Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon contact.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Isn't Showing

Many players are puzzled when their resistances remain negative even after activating the buff. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).

Therefore, after the first encounter (Act 2), your Lightning Resistance will be effectively unchanged (+10% from the shrine, -10% Act completion debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the buff will partially offset the cumulative elemental resistance penalty.

To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that you have successfully completed both encounters.
