Should You Use Pebbles or Herring in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?

by Thomas Mar 03,2025

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry faces a crucial decision: choosing between Pebbles and Herring as his trusty steed. Both horses become available later in the game, after the prologue's unfortunate loss of Henry's original mount. So, which horse reigns supreme?

Acquiring Pebbles involves visiting the Semine estate before the Semine-Agnes wedding. She's located in the stables, but requires purchase to ride during the "The Jaunt" quest with Jan Semine. However, Pebbles holds sentimental value as Henry's former companion, similar to Mutt.

Herring, on the other hand, becomes available after completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls." He's offered by Otto von Bergow if you haven't acquired another horse. Alternatively, he can be sold to Kabat for 300 Groschen.

While Herring initially boasts superior base stats, this advantage is deceptive. Both horses receive stat boosts after covering a certain distance; Pebbles' boost unlocks after 35 kilometers, while Herring's requires 50. This makes Pebbles the more practical choice.

Pebbles offers a compelling combination of affordability (potentially free), quicker stat boost acquisition, and decent stats even after the boost (217 stamina, 353 capacity, 53 speed, 12 courage). Her reliability and sentimental value further solidify her position as the superior choice.

Ultimately, for extensive travel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Pebbles' trustworthiness and practicality make her the ideal steed for Henry. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
