The wait is over for fans of the Persona series—Persona 5: The Phantom X is making its way to a global audience, with pre-registration now open on Android. Initially launched in China a year ago, the game expanded to Taiwan, South Korea, Macau, and Hong Kong, where it's available on Android, iOS, and PC. Exciting news came with the announcement that the game, previously set for a June 26th, 2025 release in Japan, will now also launch globally on the same date.
Developed by Black Wing Game Studio in collaboration with former Persona 5 developers, Phantom X adopts a free-to-play model complete with a gacha system, allowing players to summon a variety of characters to join their party.
The global release promises Japanese voice acting with the option for either English or Japanese text. If you're eager to dive into this new adventure, you can pre-register now on the Google Play Store. Get a glimpse of what's in store by watching the first look video below:
In Persona 5: The Phantom X, you'll step into the shoes of a brand new protagonist, leading a fresh crew of Phantom Thieves through a stylized rendition of modern-day Tokyo, complete with new palaces and mementos. The game retains the series' signature turn-based combat and the dual-life rhythm, complemented by light social-sim elements and dungeon crawling. Players can also engage in a guild system, take on the PvE mode called Velvet Trials, and encounter familiar faces from the original Persona 5.
The story begins with the protagonist waking up from a nightmare to find themselves in a twisted version of reality. Along the journey, you'll meet a talking owl named Lefaye and the enigmatic Velvet Room crew, including the unsettling long-nosed man and his assistants.
That's the latest on the global pre-registration for Persona 5: The Phantom X. Stay tuned for more gaming news, including our upcoming coverage of Crunchyroll's Roguelike Combat Deckbuilder, Shogun Showdown.
