Pokémon GO's Upcoming Season Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax, Welcomes Morpeko

Pokémon GO Adds Morpeko and More, Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax Coming to Game

Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has dropped hints suggesting the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, initially featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The addition of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities, fuels this speculation.

The new season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon," according to Niantic. Morpeko's form-shifting via Charged Attacks hints at the potential integration of these size-altering mechanics. The developer stated, "Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team."

While details remain scarce, the upcoming September season is expected to focus on Galar Pokémon, further fueling the Dynamax/Gigantamax rumors. The implementation method remains unknown; Sword and Shield's Power Spots may or may not translate to Pokémon GO. The possibility of other Galar Pokémon, such as Mimikyu and Aegislash, also excites fans.
